When a vessel goes down, every hour matters. That was the case recently when PCMS crews were called to Little Bay to raise a boat that had sunk, setting off a coordinated salvage response to recover the vessel from the bottom.
The Call Comes In
The call came in with a straightforward but demanding mission: a vessel had sunk in Little Bay and needed to be raised. Successful recovery would require precise coordination between surface salvage crews and underwater specialists.
PCMS mobilized quickly, arriving on scene and getting to work assessing the situation. Divers entered the water to evaluate the vessel’s condition and position while surface crews established lines and prepared the rigging. Once the dive team had secured the boat below the waterline, the crane was brought into play, carefully lifting the vessel in a controlled raise that required close communication between the crane operator, dive team, and surface crew.
A Successful Raise
Through the combined effort of our salvage, dive, and crane teams, the vessel was successfully raised and recovered. What could have become a permanent loss was resolved through practiced teamwork and the expertise PCMS crews bring to every call.
