Barry and Flora Bush started their entrepreneurial journey in the 1980s. Barry, a well-known dive instructor, purchased the Seafari Charter Boat Business providing seasonal Deep Sea Fishing, Scuba Diving, and Whale Watching.
In 1987, they bought a small piece of waterfront property in Kittery to operate the charter business from and continue with dive instruction. Eventually, they purchased a dive boat and began providing commercial dive services to waterfront businesses.
In 1992, the Bush Family expanded their business by purchasing Pepperrell Cove Mooring Services. Their client list grew to serve more than 400 docks and moorings in the Little Bay, Great Bay, Sagamore, and Piscataqua Rivers.
Fast forward to 2000, when they bought the dock seasonal service part of Pickering Marine Construction Company, one of three major regional marine construction companies. With expanded capabilities and service offerings, they changed the name of their enterprise to “Pepperrell Cove Marine Services.”
Word of their innovativeness and reliability quickly spread. With a growing reputation for excellence in underwater construction services, more local businesses, individuals, construction and engineering firms, and even governmental agencies and public utilities sought their services.
PCMS took on increasingly complex projects, from constructing piers to building seawalls, each one reinforcing its status as pioneers in the industry.
Legacy and Growth
As the years passed, Pepperrell Cove Marine Services expanded, and they began to groom the future leadership of the company. Their eldest son, Bryan, took the helm with longtime employees Jeff Campbell, Geoff Tortoriello, Craig Overlock, and Fred Hart. Jeff Campbell served as a mentor to the swelling workforce and trained many of the divers. Geoff Tortoriello was appointed Director of Operations and now oversees the business with the office team. And, Craig Overlock and Fred Hart supervise the hardworking construction and dive crews.
While each member of the leadership group brings extensive experience and a deep understanding of the complexities involved in marine projects, their talents are augmented by a skilled and dedicated staff that brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, and a shared commitment to deliver exceptional results.
Their collective expertise and passion drive PCMS to exceed client expectations and deliver projects that stand the test of time.
Now in a larger facility in Newington, NH, the leadership continues to drive the company forward with vision and integrity. Committed to fostering a culture of safety, and empowering the staff to excel, PCMS has become synonymous with quality and reliability in marine construction, a testament to the vision and hard work of its founders.
With a solid foundation built on innovation, integrity, and excellence, PCMS prides itself on delivering high-quality marine construction solutions that meet the diverse needs of its clients.
